While working on the 4th edition of 'On Foot in North Lesvos'
we, the authors Sigrid van der Zee & Mike Maunder,
decided that we should expand our and our readers' horizons.
So; since late 2010 we have been working together
to develop a new series of circular walks throughout the island we love.
Wherever you go in Lesvos, you will find totally different landscapes,
from lush river valleys, to forests, to rich agricultural areas, to rugged mountains,
to moorland, volcanic rocks, and sandy beaches.
And of course almost everywhere you will find Lesvos's ever-present olive groves,
interspersed with citrus orchards, almond trees, oleanders, and the occasional vineyard.
Our guidelines are simple: to find not-too-strenuous routes
visiting interesting and beautiful places (not difficult in Lesvos!)
and starting and finishing, preferably at or near a pleasant
taverna for pre- and post-walk refreshment,
an easy drive from the main holiday centres.
So: Come back next year, rent a car or bike, buy our book, take off and explore!
